Sweet Site of The Day Will Be Re-Launching Mid-November 2008!!
Hi, I’m Walt. I run Awesomeology. I started Sweet Site of The Day back in 2005, and it was going really well and had built up quite the following.
Then in 2007, disaster hit.
I left for a week’s vacation in August of ‘07. It was a cruise, so I was basically going to be without any internet, unless I wanted to pay like 30 cents per minute. Before leaving, I had my daily posts all ready to go, and “future published” them (so they would appear once per day, and the site wouldn’t miss a beat). I also asked my hosting company (at the time) to cancel my hosting package for another, similar sounding site called sweetSHIRToftheday.com.
Guess what? They canceled the wrong one. They canceled sweetSITEoftheday. I didn’t realize it until it was too late, and I was an idiot who never made backups, so everything I had built was gone. I was pretty upset about it, and the thought of rebuilding was too daunting for me at the time, so I eventually had to just let it go. I continued on with Awesomeology, which I love doing and which has built up a nice following of its own by now.
But I’ve always had Sweet Site of The Day in the back of my mind. It’s kind of like a first love. I’ve also been wanting to do more with video, and it just recently hit me…I’ll restart Sweet Site of The Day, but this time as a daily video show.
I’m moving into a new place on November 15th, and the room that will be my new office is going to be perfect for shooting video…there’s a ton of light in it. So in the meantime I’m getting the website ready and figuring out exactly how I want the show to run each day. Once I get all settled in, I’ll begin shooting and posting the daily (Monday-Friday) shows.
